“It's hard to put into words just how amazing my experience with Christian has been but I will try! I first saw Christian for my Pap smear and it was a whole new experience, I felt so taken care of and comfortable and that was something I never felt during a pap before. And then my husband and I went back to Christian for help with IUI. I had previously spoken to a fertility doctor about doing IUI and I felt very dismissed and like the only option for me was to be in a sterile office, take a trigger shot and not have my husband involved. With Christian it was the complete opposite! We worked with my bodies natural signals to track ovulation and she was with me every step of the way. I emailed her constantly with updates and I really felt like she was as invested in us getting pregnant as we were. When it was time for our insemination we felt so comfortable and relaxed in the office. She warmed the room and dimmed the lights. Also as a queer couple we felt so respected and comfortable, I cannot express our gratitude to Christian. It took us two tries and we were able to conceive! One year later and I am writing this review while nursing my 4 month old daughter. "It's hard to put into words how much your care has meant to me, and I feel so fortunate to have had you both to go through this season with me. Pregnancy was not at all what I expected, and admittedly had romanticized in my mind. "What can I say except that Christian is a phenomenal midwife? She's caring, skilled, funny, intuitive, professional, supportive, and smart. Also, fashionable. She caught my third baby, for my second home birth (my first birth was a c-section), and the experience was beautiful in part because she was there. I so enjoyed meeting with her monthly, and then, later, weekly, for prenatal exams--we got to know each other, and she listened to my various rants and complaints, and she got nerdy palpating that fetus! I felt so supported by her. I loved that she had such faith in my baby and my body, and I also appreciated the knowledge and information she provided me with--she has a handout for every single subject related to pregnancy and childbirth, and pretty much is a walking encyclopedia! I also loved that she was cautious when she needed to be. Near the end of my pregnancy she wanted me to get checked out at the hospital for something that turned out to be nothing, but I was happy that she was taking precaution so that my son's birthday could be worry free. And, oh, the birth! Christian is THE SHIT! She arrives with such calming, confident energy. She let me and my husband labor together without interference, except when we needed it. She made sure I pushed productively, that I listened to my body, and when my baby was born she made me feel like he was the cutest, most precious creature alive (I mean, he is, but, you know.) She just made me and my family--my husband, my mom, my two older kids, even my dog--feel cared for. That is so special. I wish every pregnant person got the care and tenderness and respect that Christian provides. I highly recommend Christian Toscano. She's so great! "My wife and I were a little hesitant to have a home birth at first, but after meeting with Christian we felt instantly comforted about the whole idea and soon got very excited about how special and amazing an experience it could be. In the end we could not have been happier about the decision and the birth was every bit as beautiful as we could have hoped (although nothing like we expected!). Christian is relaxed yet responsive; friendly yet serious. During the labor she was there whenever we needed her, but otherwise we hardly noticed her presence. She encouraged me to be as involved in the labor as I felt comfortable, and I actually ended up catching our baby boy as he came out! Her extensive knowledge-base and practice as an herbalist was a huge added bonus as there was always a naturopathic cure for any small health issue that came up as well as lots of pre and post natal products available to us, all effective and beautifully packaged. "Christian Toscano was our midwife for our first baby. She exudes confidence through her knowledge of pregnancy and birth! We began our care with an OB and decided after extensive reading and research that we wanted to be with someone who understood physiologic birth and only used interventions when necessary. She provided all the lab work in the comfort of our home while still being extremely professional and aware of sterility. She is an incredibly warm individual which made us both feel relaxed and in good hands. She did a great job at involving me in the preparation and process of my wife's birth so that I felt included in the process. My wife's labor was no easy task. She had very bad nausea and vomiting throughout to the point that Christian was giving her IV's and homemade hydration solution. This allowed my wife the strength to continue her labor. She was incredibly attentive to my wife's needs and believed in her when she really needed it. When our baby was crowing, Christian offered gentle guidance for my wife so that she could breathe our baby out without tearing. Her and the assistant midwife both stayed for 4 hours after the birth, checking on my wife and baby's transition. Afterwards the assistant midwife cooked eggs for all of us, which we ate while we got to know our daughter! The following days were also incredible. Christian came to our home the following day after the birth to give incredible breastfeeding support and check our baby. She also checked in with my wife and me and gave us tips on how to ease the transition of new parenthood, especially normalizing what we could expect in the upcoming weeks, which was extremely helpful to us as first time parents! She gave me and my wife unlimited phone support and visited us again a lot after the birth. We did ask to see her once between the scheduled visits to calm some concerns we had, which she did without hesitation. Her availability and support to answer our questions was far superior than anything we would have received in the hospital system. It was such a joyous birth of our daughter! We couldn't have done it without her and anyone is lucky to have her as their midwife. We will definitely be calling her for our second (;"
